Writing Competition

Warsaw University Law Review and the Center for American Law Studies are proud to announce writing competition for students of the University of Warsaw on topics connected to the rule of law in the United States.

The articles may be focused on the following issues:

-          influence of the U.S. precedent system on the rule of law

-          relation between equity and the rule of law in U.S. legal system

-          historical perspective on the rule of law in U.S.

-          comparative perspective on the rule of law (including U.S.)

-          rule of law and American legal culture

-          influence of social movements in U.S. on rule of law

-          system of checks and balances and rule of law in U.S.

-          separation of powers and the rule of law in U.S.

All manuscripts should be analytical and focused on the specific legal problem (topic). Articles and essays must be submitted in Word format (.doc or .docx) and ideally should be between 4,000 and 10,000 words (including footnotes).

The best paper will be invited to be presented during the Poland – US Conference on the Rule of Law celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Center for American Law Studies, June 26, 2018 at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw (Collegium Iuridicum II, Lipowa 4, Warsaw, aula A2). Submissions will be evaluated by a board consisting of Polish and American legal scholars. Best publications will be selected to be published in the law review. In addition to publication the laureates will be awarded non-monetary prices funded by the Embassy of the United States of America.

Submissions should be sent no later than 15 of May 2018.
